Susan Lucas Conwell - Executive Vice President

Susan is a global business executive recognized for her successful track record of driving innovation and accelerating revenue growth.

Previously the Chief Innovation Catalyst /Board Director at Growth Resources Inc and Innovation Advisor to Siemens Technology to Business, she collaborated with executive teams of Global 1000 companies to build strategic relationships with the innovation ecosystem, cultivated an innovative workplace culture, and drove corporate growth through external innovation.

As Global CEO at Great Place to Work, she re-positioned the brand and increased annual revenues by 30 per cent. As CEO of SVForum, she established long-term relationships with corporations such as Microsoft and IBM as well as governments and service providers.

She has advised hundreds of early stage start-ups in addition to sitting on Boards. Much of her career was spent in France at Cartier International and Ray-Ban before founding Clear-Day, a cross-border business accelerator. Public recognition includes The “Innovator Spotlight Award” (Frost & Sullivan) and TedX.

Margaret Donoghue - Director Strategic Partnerships

Margaret is recognised as an expert in trade and foreign investment. She joined CSIRO in 2017 as the Director of Strategic Partnerships following 7 years at Austrade.

Austrade is an arm of the Australian government responsible for encouraging the growth of Australian businesses into the US market and US investment into Australia.

At Austrade Margaret was Investment Director. She was responsible for identifying and facilitating investment and partnerships between Australia and the US.

She has also worked extensively in the field international relations leading and developing programs for the State Department across a diverse range of industries including emergency response and biotech.

Margaret is a Silicon Valley local. She has bachelor’s degree in History, studied French at the Sorbonne in Paris and has a Master’s degree in World History and Political Theory.

Nicole M. Forrester - Counsellor, CSIRO Science Capability Embassy of Australia, Washinton DC

Nicole is the first inaugural Counsellor for CSIRO at the Australian Embassy in Washington, D.C. As an Australian diplomat, industry adviser, international non-profit CEO, and Indigenous community advocate, Nicole brings to CSIRO over 15 years of diverse leadership experience in Australia, the U.S., and the Asia-Pacific. 

From 2014-2017, Nicole was the President and CEO of Pacific Resources for Education and Learning (PREL), before which she was program director at Pacific Forum Center for Strategic and International Studies. She has been awarded the East-West Center’s Asia-Pacific Leadership Fellowship, the Amanda and Natalie Ellis Women Leaders Scholarship Award, the WSD-Handa Research Fellowship and was recognised by the U.S. Congress for her leadership and contributions to cross-cultural relations, education in policy making, and facilitation of inter-generational dialogues.

In 2004, Nicole joined the Australian diplomatic service and was appointed Consul for Political and Economic Affairs in Los Angeles and later, Acting Director of the United Nations and Commonwealth Section in Canberra.

Tristy Falkenberg - Senior Technical Adviser to Boeing and Director, NW USA Operations

Tristy holds a B.Sc., LLB (Hons), Grad Dip Legal Practice and LLM all from the Australian National University, and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Following work at King & Wood Mallesons she joined CSIRO working in various legal and commercial roles across the organisation.

Prior to taking on her current role Tristy was a Commercial Director at CSIRO.

Tristy has been a sessional teacher at Monash University and the Australian National University and volunteered with the charity Wesley Mission.

Trista Acevedo headshot

Trista Acevedo - Executive Assistant/Office Manager

Trista has extensive management and administration experience spanning twenty years in sectors including medical research.

In her previous role as an Administrative Assistant at Earlens Corporation she supported the Operations, Quality and Clinical/Regulatory teams.  She also directed logistics for physician training programs. At Silk Road Medical, she worked closely with Clinical, Regulatory and Quality departments, maintaining clinical logs, proofing regulatory submissions and reviewing clinical records.

Trista has had extensive management experience, from co-ordinating complex domestic and international travel itineraries for corporate level travellers at her role with Peak Travel Group to leading a logistics team when Abbott Vascular pursued FDA approval for a first in class medical device.
